AB Klaipėdos Nafta upgrades tank truck filling station

AB Klaipėdos Nafta (KN) has implemented one of the investment projects included in the company’s strategy for the period until 2020. The project involved the expansion of a filling station for tank trucks, enabling the company to fill up four tank trucks simultaneously with different oil products.

The project, which is part of the first stage of an upgrade at KN, was implemented by UAB Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba under an agreement signed in May 2016. The agreement is valued at about €2.5m. UAB Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba was also contracted by KN to design and build storage tanks for fuel oil containing water at the Klaipėda oil terminal.

The upgrade also involved the laying of an extra pipeline for loading oil products into tank trucks and the construction of a new storage tank for multifunctional fuel additives.

Before the upgrade, the oil terminal used four units of equipment for refilling refined oil products. Now their number has doubled and extra two places for filling up tank trucks have been installed.

Acting CEO of KN, Marius Pulkauninkas said: “This stage of the upgrade is very important as we can now fill up tank trucks with eight different oil products, instead of three previously. The upgrade helped us not only to increase capacity but also provided more flexibility – we can now service a bigger range of customers because it is possible for us to load refined oil products into road tank vehicles of different customers at the same time.”
