NWF Lincolnshire Fuels Wins FPS Depot of the Year Award 2017
Oil Distribution Trade Association FPS (Federation of Petroleum Suppliers) has revealed that this year’s winner of its QBE sponsored Depot of the Year award is NWF Fuels’, Lincolnshire Fuels Depot. This is the second time that the Lincolnshire Fuels depot has won the award. They were winners back in 2015.
FPS Marketing Manager, Dawn Shakespeare said: “We have been impressed by all the depots and the standards they have set again this year and we are delighted to see that so many companies and individuals are being recognised for their achievements and we’re pleased to be able to reward their efforts in this celebration of excellence and innovation. It was a very tight contest between the top three depots but NWF Lincolnshire Fuels depot just had the edge and we congratulate them on their worthy win.
“This award is celebrated within the oil distribution industry and widely respected for the exacting standards it represents. NWF Fuels won the award this year because the company is a clear leader in its field, setting the highest of standards when it comes to health and safety, operating procedures and the environment.”
Runners up in the 2017 competition were Barton Petroleum Oakley depot and Tincknell Fuels, Gillingham depot. Tincknell Fuels Wells depot was given the accolade of the Phillips 66 sponsored ‘Most Improved Depot Of The Year’.
The FPS Depot of the Year award, has been gaining recognition within the industry and to enter into the competition, every depot must have passed an audit by the FPS Depot Certification Scheme within the last two years. The award gives recognition to distributors for the hard work and dedication to meeting the high standards set by the legislative authorities. Companies have the responsibility to contribute to the improvement of standards and will therefore undoubtedly benefit from entering the award and therefore undergoing an FPS Depot Certification scheme audit.
FPS Technical Manager, Tony Brown, who carries out the scheme provides an in-depth report, detailing just what needs to be done to become a first-class depot – and be in with the chance of winning this celebrated award.
Tony said: “The audits cover 15 sections, including yard and tank storage, health and safety management, transport, and environmental management. In addition, as part of an audit, we examine how the depot is performing compared to the expected standards in the industry; how in-depth the depot management’s knowledge of the site and all legal compliance systems is; how up-to-date site maintenance records are; and how proactive site staff are.
“We were extremely impressed by NWF Fuels’ performance in the audit and by the incredibly high standards this depot operates at.”
