Occidental Petroleum loading arms at Corpus Christi
Occidental Petroleum aims to complete a project that will see several loading arms installed at its crude storage facility at Corpus Christi, Texas, by the end of next year, according to Platts.
Speaking on the side-lines of Energy Exchange Conference in Midland, Occidental Petroleum’s Vice President for Midstream Terry Morrison told Platts: “With a current draft of 45 feet at the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, that project will allow us to load a VLCC with 1.2 million barrels to 1.4 million barrels at our Ingleside Energy Center facility.”
Earlier this year the company took a VLCC to its Ingleside crude terminal so it could assess the modifications that may be required to load VLCCs in the future.
COO of the Port of Corpus Christi Authority, Sean Strawbridge said: “The super tanker could not be fully loaded due to the lack of draft at the ship channel.”
As reported in Tank News International in September a program to deepen and widen the Corpus Christi Ship Channel has been agreed.
