Philippine National Oil Co talking with Chevron regarding Batangas LNG hub


The President of state-owned Philippine National Oil Co (PNOC), Reuben Lista, has revealed to local press that the company is “talking” with Chevron Philippines with regards to the country’s planned liquefied natural gas project.

Executives from Chevron, NYK Line and JERA Co. Inc., met with PNOC officials to discuss the proposed LNG integrated project in Batangas. Chevron already owns 45% of the Malampaya gas project in northwest Palawan. The company also runs around 700 retail stations across the country.

PNOC is completing an agreement with the International Finance Corp. (IFC), to carry out a study into the potential of the LNG project. It is reported that the IFC will assist in creating a feasibility plan for the project.

If all moves ahead, it is anticipated that the Batangas LNG hub will include 5-million-ton-per annum storage units, re gasification power plant and distribution/redistribution units.
