Port of Gothenburg LNG infrastructure from Swedegas

A new LNG bunkering facility is being developed at the Port of Gothenburg by Swedegas. This is the first LNG facility in Gothenburg, the largest port in Scandinavia. It will make it possible for vessels to be bunkered with LNG at the quayside while loading and unloading.

Swedegas Chief Executive, Johan Zettergren said: “This investment marks the starting point for the gradual expansion of the facility, eventually supplying the transport sector and Swedish industry with liquefied gas. Regardless of the sector, it ultimately comes down to making the transition from oil-based products.”

The facility, will comprise a discharge station, a cryogenic pipeline and bunkering equipment.

Gothenburg Port Authority Chief Executive, Magnus Kårestedt said: “We have for a long time believed in LNG as the fuel of the future. This investment by Swedegas is entirely in line with our ambition to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and establish a sustainable Scandinavian freight hub.”
