Port of Tallinn wins the Green Port / Terminal Award


The Port of Tallinn in Estonia has been awarded the Green Port/Terminal of the Year Award by the DPC Innovation Awards 2017. The award spotlights a port or terminal that has demonstrated an active and innovative response to the preservation and promotion of wildlife, reduction in air emissions, water quality, treatment of soils & sediments, community engagement and sustainability.

The port, which houses a range of bulk liquid storage facilities, won the award for developing a sustainable cruise terminal to Old City Harbour.

The five shortlisted projects for the Green Port / Terminal Award were:

  • DP World Nhava Sheva – Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal
  • Faxafloahafnir sf – ISO 14001 Certified harbor
  • Gothenburg Port Authority – “Sustainable Port” – Sustainability Report of Gothenburg Port Authority 2016
  • Port of Melbourne – sustainable Mirrat project
  • Port of Tallinn – sustainable cruise terminal

The Innovation Awards 2017 was organised by the Dredging and Port Construction Magazine.
