Anker Schiffahrt signs contract extension with UPM-Kymmene

Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH and UPM-Kymmene Oyj, a Finnish company in the bio and forest industry, have extended the contract for handling forest products.

Anker Schiffahrt will primarily handle pulp for UPM-Kymmene at the Emskai “for several years” and deliver it to both national and international customers and the UPM Nordland Papier GmbH mill in Dörpen.

Additionally, Anker Schiffahrt will act as shipbroker for all pulp imports, as well as stevedore on board and on land. In addition, the company is to partly arrange on-carriage by barge, rail and truck as well as container stuffing.

Anker Schiffahrt is the operator of a modern multi-purpose seaport terminal in the outer port of Emden. It won this contract again “against tough national and international competition”, it said in a statement.

By signing the contract, the two companies are continuing their cooperation, which has been in existence since 1983.

Jan Remmers, Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH, said: “Our highly motivated Emder team is very much looking forward to continuing our cooperation in the coming days, months and years.”
