Busy few weeks for Abbey’s silo evacuation tankers

One of the services Abbey provides to the powders sector is silo evacuation. Helping its customers keep their inventories stocked and their products moving, minimising delay and getting production back on track. Silo Evacuation is usually required through product contamination in silos or when silos need to be emptied for routine maintenance.

Abbey’s vacuum tankers operate throughout the UK, working 24/7 and are available for rapid deployment to remove a wide variety of powdered products – from flour, sugar and other food products to polymers, cement and minerals, it can safely and quickly evacuate powders from silos, tanks or even other road tankers with minimum disruption, it says.

“As one of the largest road tanker companies in the UK for powdered products, we have specialist knowledge of the products we are asked to remove,” Abbey said. “In the last month, we’ve helped customers across Scotland, the North West and the South East, with each job having its own set of unique requirements.”

Once the company has evacuated the products it can handle it in several ways depending on what the customer wants. This includes holding it in the tanker until the silo has been cleaned and then blown back in, taking the product off site to be blown back into a different silo or tank, delivered to a customer or disposed of responsibly. Each situation is different, and our highly trained drivers have decades of experience between them to be able to provide the expert support our customers need.

“In addition to silo evacuation we also can help with major spillages or any powder, granulated or pellet clean-up operations, and through our bag to bulk, rip and tip services on the Wirral, we can also decant evacuated material into bulk bags and securely store at our warehouse facility.”
