Chemikalien acquires 100% of Rigel Schiffahrts


The Hamburg-based shipping company Chemikalien Seetransport (CST) has taken over 100 percent of the shares of the Bremen-based shipping company Rigel Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG. After the takeover, Rigel will continue as an independent company.

Chemikalien Seetransport with its subsidiaries will expand its market position as one of the leading German tanker shipping companies after the takeover with a combined fleet of 33 tankers and bulk carriers.

Chemikalien Seetransport belongs to the Krämer Group, which also includes the engineering and consultancy firm Marine Service GmbH that was founded in 1958 by Dr. Karl-Heinz Krämer. Chemikalien Seetransport was founded in 1969 and is an internationally well renowned shipping company for crude oil tankers, product tankers, chemical tankers, LNG and LPG vessels and bulk carriers. The fleet includes 18 product tankers, three chemical tankers and one bulk carrier. Christian Krämer leads the group of companies in the third generation of the owning family since 2017.

Rigel was founded in 1990 and is a Bremen-based shipping company that specialises in the technical management of product and chemical tankers. Currently, the fleet comprises eight chemical tankers and three product tankers.
