Genoa port enhances rail freight links to Rivalta Scrivia, Padova and Milano sorting terminals

The Port of Genoa has enhanced its rail freight links to the Rivalta Scrivia, Padova and Milano sorting terminals. The new services, dedicated to the railway transport of sea containers, have been operational since the beginning of November and managed by Mercitalia Rail (Polo Mercitalia).

Specifically, it involves an additional six freight trains per week between Genoa VTE (Voltri Terminal Europa) and the Interporto of Rivalta Scrivia (for Autosped), two additional trains a week between Genoa VTE and the Interport of Padua (for Logtainer) and two additional trains a week between Genoa VTE and the Milan Smistamento terminal (for Mercitalia Intermodal). All this has been possible thanks to the commitment of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Mercitalia Rail to work from mid-August to restore the full efficiency of the railway infrastructure and the rail freight traffic to and from Genoa.

The strengthening of rail freight links is one of the actions implemented by the FS Italiane Group to increase the offer of rail transport to and from the port of Genoa and to contribute to giving new impetus to economic and sustainable development.
