GTT acquires smart shipping specialist Marorka

GTT said in a statement that it continues its development in digital with the acquisition of 100 per cent of the capital of the Icelandic smart shipping specialist Marorka from its shareholders and managers.

Marorka designs operational reporting systems that optimise the energy performance of ships and reduce their environmental footprint. More than 600 ships are equipped with a Marorka system.

With 17 years of experience and a recognised technical platform and high added value applications, GTT said in a statement “Marorka has good technical, commercial and geographic complementarity with Ascenz, a subsidiary of GTT based in Singapore, and constitutes a new milestone of the Group’s digital strategy”.

Darri Gunnarsson, CEO of Marorka, said: “We share the same vision on Smart Shipping and in particular its growing contribution to improving the operational and environmental performance of merchant ships.”
