ITCO postpones two members meetings and publishes safety guide

Recognising the significant and unprecedented impact that COVID-19 will, without doubt, continue to have over the coming months, the ITCO Board has agreed to postpone the two 2020 ITCO Members Meetings (provisionally scheduled for Rotterdam and Singapore) until next year.

In making this decision, the Board took into account both the safety of its members and the economic reality that we are facing.

It said: “For the foreseeable future, there are too many risks inherent in running conferences – with the time spent travelling and at airports and in hotels, etc – to justify organising them. At the same time, the Board is very well aware of the tough business environment that Member companies will be facing for many months to come.”

It added: “Once the pandemic is over – which hopefully will be soon – then we will be able to plan for next year. As it currently stands, our intention is to run Members Meetings in Europe and Asia in 2021. And, of course, the ITCO Tank Container Village is scheduled to be organised at transport logistic 2021 in Munich (4-7 May 2021).”

Elsewhere, ITCO has published the latest Technical Guidelines document: TG05 – Safe Entry into a Tank Container. It said this will be an addition to its library of guidelines published in recent years and available on the ITCO website.
