Latest leak detection tech from Wolftank-Adisa Holding AG

The latest wireless remote monitoring technology from Wolftank-Adisa is designed for the detection of fuel leakage or spilling. The company has produced a leak detection system designed to detect the presence of hydrocarbons in secondary containments and in monitoring wells.

Wolftank said that as soon as the sensors detect any hydrocarbons, they give an alarm through the RF Emitter in the control unit. The control unit forwards the signal to a centralized alarm system and/or to a nominated phone number or email address. Additionally, 24/7 access to a customised web interface can be provided. Remote connection of alarms to an immediate emergency response is also possible, to either avoid entirely or minimise any damage to the environment and loss of product, it added.

The advantages of using a wireless leak detection system include environmental protection and immediate emergency response time in case of a leakage or spillage. Wolftank said: “it is an ideal choice for tank refineries, tank farms, solar plants or gas stations with centralised monitoring, because of the long distances which can be bypassed.”

Areas of use include sumps, interstice between two floors of double floor storage tanks, containment basins, basement of storage tanks according to EEMUA183, soil below tanks, and groundwater – all of which make it ideal for tank farms and industrial sites, according to Wolftank.

The technology can detect: spill of primary containment leading to the presence of hydrocarbons in secondary containment (storage liquid); water presence in secondary containment, eg in the sump; spill to the ground with hydrocarbons detected in monitoring wells.
