More than 300 years of transport experience in the spotlight at Van den Bosch

It is one of the annual highlights on the Van den Bosch calendar: the jubilee evening. On October 25, it was that time again. This time 17 jubilees were in the spotlight during a festive evening in the Van den Bosch Experience in Erp.

The jubilees together account for a good 306 years of experience within Van den Bosch Transporten. Eleven jubilees celebrated their 12.5-year employment; three employees have been in service for 25 years this year and two colleagues are even touching the 40-year limit. Add one retiree and the 300-year limit has been broken.

In the centre point

Rico Daandels, CEO of Van den Bosch Transporten, acknowledged those impressive facts: “This is a special evening, of which you, our jubilees, are completely in the centre. Because with your years of commitment, dedication and energy, you have made our beautiful family business a little more beautiful every day. We are grateful for that. We hope that you will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Happy in cabin

One of the jubilees is driver Pieter Jansen (49), who is celebrating 25 years of employment this year. He is pleased with his employer’s attention to its jubilees. “The fact that all those anniversaries are being considered in this way feels like recognition. I’m having a good time at Van den Bosch. As an international driver for Van den Bosch I have seen the whole of Europe, and being on the road is never boring, still not. Travelling, seeing other countries, experiencing all those cultures… I don’t get happy behind a desk, but in my cabin I do.”

Always challenging

Financial controller Eva Vonk (36) has been with Van den Bosch for 12.5 years. To her own surprise, actually, she admits: “This is my first job. When I started, I never thought I would make this anniversary, I expected to make a switch sooner. But so much happens at this company that my work has always remained challenging. I think that Van den Bosch is organising this evening very nicely. It is not for nothing that you celebrate an anniversary as an employee: it indicates that you are enjoying yourself. Van den Bosch appreciates that and that is a good thing.”

Van den Bosch family

One of the most experienced jubilees is Leo Swinkels (60), who came into service as a technician 40 years ago and is still the face of the Technical Service. “Technology has always interested me. I once started as a mechanic in the luxury car business, but after a few years of crisis, I ended up in the trucks at Van den Bosch. And now look… It has been a good step. Of course, the work has changed, just like the atmosphere. The time when management came to say good morning in person every day is over. The company has become too big for that. Nevertheless, the atmosphere at Van den Bosch is still very personal. Whatever I ask, whatever I’m worried about, a solution is always being considered. I am still very happy that I ended up with this family.”
