New Brenntag sustainability report published

Brenntag has published its Sustainability Report for the Financial Year 2018, where it presents its performance on the field of sustainability and documents its global activities and achievements in the areas of safety, environmental protection, supply chain responsibility, employees and social involvement.

The responsible use of natural resources is one area that the current report focuses on. Steven Holland, Chief Executive Officer of Brenntag AG, commented: “Circular economy, waste avoidance and the efficient use of natural resources are becoming more and more important in our industry. Brenntag has already accumulated a lot of experience and expertise in this area. At the same time, we are engaging closely and working with our business partners to develop more efficient processes for our industry and to launch sustainable products and solutions on the market.”

The report provides an insight into Brenntag’s activities in and commitment to the areas of energy saving, packaging circularity and environmentally friendly products.

Occupational safety is also a top priority at Brenntag and is a key area of focus in the report. Brenntag continuously invests in its relevant infrastructure and equipment, as well as in further developing the safety culture within the company. The improvement in the LTIR Group accident rate (2018: 1.5; 2017: 1.7) is therefore one of the success stories in the year under review.

The Brenntag Group’s fundamental approaches, organisational structures and processes for managing sustainability issues are presented. Numerous examples from the operating units provide an insight into practical operations and show how sustainability is implemented in Brenntag’s regions worldwide.

“With this – our sixth – sustainability report, we are continuing our commitment to transparent communication about our achievements and the status of our 2020 global sustainability targets,” Dr Dirk Eckert, Group Sustainability Manager at Brenntag, said. “To supplement this, we submit to external evaluation in the form of our successful participation in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment and the CDP climate rating.”

Brenntag’s Sustainability Report for the Financial Year 2018 is based on the reporting standards of the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Selected content also forms the separate non-financial Group report to ensure compliance with the legal requirements of the German CSR Directive Implementation Act (CSR-RUG). This content has been externally audited.
