New jetty triples capacity at LBC’s Rotterdam location
LBC Tank Terminals is to expand its Rotterdam site located in the Botlek area. The aim of the project known as Rainbow is to triple the current capacity and significantly improve jetty and land infrastructure at the petrochemical heart of the port.
The first phase of this expansion project is close to completion. The first new tanks became fully operational over one month ago and the terminal recently accomplished another major milestone with the birthing of the first vessel at the brand-new jetty. The jetty is a result of a constructive collaboration between the Port of Rotterdam and LBC Tank Terminals and is an essential asset to meet the demands of our customers and facilitate the growth ambitions of the LBC Rotterdam site.
The project adheres to the three pillars of the company’s business strategy “build-out, further optimise, expand” and reflects LBC Rotterdam’s ambition to be the safest and most efficient terminal in the Port of Rotterdam when it comes to ship-to-shore interface and ship-turnaround times.
“During the coming months we will focus on our Product Transfer Program in which we will connect all existing tanks to the new jetty and demolish the redundant jetty,” the company said in a statement. “Upon completion of this phase, the new jetty will be extended such that four berthing positions will be available; two for seagoing vessels and two for barges.”
The provisional plans are currently under review by LBC’s engineering team.
