New offshore topside compressors from TMC for Bonga Main FPSO

TMC, (which is a global supplier of compressed air systems for marine and offshore use headquartered in Oslo, Norway), is to deliver an offshore compressed air system to the Bonga Main floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).

The Bonga Main FPSO has a capacity of 225,000 bbl/d of oil and weighs more than 300,000 t.

The system in question will consist of three large compressors and a control system. The FPSO is located 120 km southwest of the Niger Delta, in a water depth of more than 1,000 m.

The three large compressors will be retrofitted on board the Bonga Main FPSO, which became operational in 2005 and is operated by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. (SNEPCo). TMC has not disclosed the value of the contract.

“Our offshore compressed air systems have been designed solely for marine and offshore use, which is why they are favoured by FPSO operators who do not wish to rely on sending service technicians offshore. Our compressors are designed so the vessel crew can maintain them on their own, alternatively in combination with online support from us,” said Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.
