Pemex tenders for LNG import terminal

MexGas Supply, a gas marketing subsidiary of state-run oil company Pemex, has launched an open tender to design, install and operate an LNG import terminal in the southern Mexican port of Pajarito.

“The project’s objective is to market natural gas in Mexico’s south-southeast region through the creation of a new import injection point at the marine and storage terminal of Pajaritos,” MexGas Supply has said.

The project will consist of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with a capacity of up to 600 MMcf/d, which will be installed for a period of five years at the port of Pajaritos in Coatzacoalcos in the Gulf state of Veracruz.

Interested companies must register for the tender by July 11. The winner is expected to be announced at the end of summer, and should bring the terminal on line within seven months of the award.

MexGas Supply said the project would take approximately seven months to begin commercial operations from the date it was awarded. The open tender was expected to conclude by the end of the summer.
