Polish-Lithuanian border crossing agreement signed

Poland’s PKP Cargo and Lithuanian Railways (LG) signed an agreement to improve cargo handling at the border crossing between the two countries.

At a meeting in Warsaw on May 10, the President of PKP Cargo’s management board, Czesław Warsewicz, and LG Deputy General Director, Egidijus Lazauskas agreed to explore the possibility of using the potential of the Lithuanian station Mockawa and Kaunas intermodal terminal in handling container trains from China via Lithuania to Poland, as well as issues related to the digitisation of shipping documents and the use of the CIM consignment note for the carriage of cargo destined for the EU.

“Maintaining operational contacts makes it easier to solve problems and improves the quality of our work while handling loads at the interface between the 1520mm and 1435mm gauge rail networks,” said Czesław.
