Port of Frederikshavn increases storage capacity

The Port of Frederikshavn has entered into agreement with Global Green Developer (GGD) for the development of new facilities for the handling of both bulk products as well as project cargo at the Port of Frederikshavn.

A 10,000 m² new warehouse/production facilities will be established, distributed on five facilities of 2,000 m² each. The warehouses will be multifunctional and can be used for storage of bulk products such as corn and feedstuffs, biofuel, fertilizer, etc. The warehouses will have accessibility, which also makes it possible to store larger constructions – for example in connection with repairs of rigs. It will also be possible to make short or long leases for possible production activities.

Global Green Developer currently has warehouse capacity at the Port of Køge and has chosen to place their new facilities at the Port of Frederikshavn due to the strategic location and the possibility to establish a HUB function, where goods will be transhipped by vessel.

We now profit from the expanded water depth of 14m, which makes it attractive for operators to use the port and this proves that the need for storage capacities in combination with a deep water quay is present. We expect the agreement with Global Green Developer to entail other interesting activities, which amongst others will involve international traders. We experience tremendous demand on storage and production facilities at the Port of Frederikshavn and with the new setup, we can comply with the needs of our existing and new customers,” said Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, CEO at Port of Frederikshavn.

The facilities are expected to be ready for use in third quarter of 2019.

The agreement with Global Green Developer means that all hinterland areas of Stage 1 (330,000 m² in total) are now fully leased.
