Port of Zeebrugge reports 7.7% growth
Port of Zeebrugge has reported a growth of 7.7% after the first three quarters of 2018 compared to the same period last year. The port reported a total cargo volume of 29,806,359 tonnes was handled. The increase is situated in the ro-ro sector (+8.2%) and liquid bulk (+48.7%).
The roll-on/roll-off traffic grew 8.2% to a total of nearly 12 million tonnes. Growth is registered for the UK (+2.3%), Ireland (+7.8%) and Scandinavia (+1.7%).
Container traffic registered a growth of 0.3% in tonnes and 6.3% in TEU, while liquid bulk cargo registered an increase of 48.7% to 4.7 million tonnes. This was mainly due to the increase of LNG.
