Qingdao Port to construct its fourth VLCC terminal


Qingdao Port International (QPI) has announced plans to build new VLCC-class berths and storage facilities at Donjiakou region in Shandong Province.

In addition to the VLCC berth, an oil product berth capable of receiving vessels with capacity of 100,000 mt will also be built. Both are targeted to start operations by the end of 2019.

According to reports, 3 million cbm of storage capacity will also be constructed in Dongjiakou. Of this, 1.6 million cbm, will be constructed by QPI for commercial storage facilities. 

It will also collaborate with independent refineries and state-owned companies to set up a combined storage capacity of 2 million cbm. 

Qingdao port started its crude oil business in 1976. Currently, Qingdao port has four sectors of Qingdao Dagang port area, Huangdao oil port area, Qianwan port area and Dongjiakou port area.
