Rail Cargo Logistics Goldair commences open-access rail freight operations

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) subsidiary Rail Cargo Group (RCG) and Greek partner Goldair Cargo are to operate as a separate rail transport company after officially launching their Greek open-access rail freight operations at the RCG’s Sindos terminal in Thessaloniki on June 27.

As of the beginning of July, Rail Cargo Logistics Goldair’s own trains will run between the Greek border of Gevgelija / Idomeni and the Thessaloniki region. Further block train potential lies on the route between Central Europe and the two Greek ports of Thessaloniki and Piraeus. This will allow the RCG to ensure a continuous break between Germany and Greece via Bulgaria (Kulata border crossing).
