ShibataFenderTeam installs 20 Cone Fenders at new berth at Wismar Seaport

Wismar Seaport is the southernmost German Baltic Sea port, ideally situated for north-south traffic between Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Russia and Central Europe.

In order to stay competitive and to increase opportunities, the port has extended its infrastructure over the last few years and has just recently announced the completion of the second stage of its port extension.

The port now offers a new 332 metre quay wall that can accommodate up to two vessels. Even Panamax size vessels (max. length 294 metres) will now be able to moor at the port.

ShibataFenderTeam equipped the new quay wall with 20 sets of SPC 1000 Cone Fender Systems which were designed for a wide range of vessels.

The port extension of Wismar Seaport includes a multifunctional area of 4.5 ha for cargo handling, being connected to the railroad system.

“ShibataFenderTeam’s high quality products ensure safe and smooth operations for Wismar Seaport and support them to increase the handling of seaborne goods from 3.5 to 6 million tonnes per year over the next 15 years,” the company said.
