Successful COA Meeting in Hamburg


The COA held its 24th Members Meeting in Hamburg at the end of last year. With over 120 participants, the meeting covered a wide range of COA projects. 

During the first part of the morning, plenary sessions comprised a review of the work undertaken by the COA over the past year, given by Brian Darnowski; details of the COA’s participation and role at the International Plant Protection Convention Meeting by Uffe Ernst-Frederiksen; and a Report of the programme of work by the Korea Regional Branch.

In the second half of the morning, there were presentations by Renzo Hoefnagels, ABN AMRO, on trends in sustainable finance initiatives, together with an update of the work being undertaken by the IICL, from Luiz Goncalves, the organisation’s Director of Technical Services. Finally, Cathy Gao paid tribute to Mr Pan Chuanrong, founder of the CXIC Group.

The afternoon began with a number of technical presentations. Marianna Levtov, Commercial Project Manager, Nexxiot updated delegates on the COA project to develop a Standard UDM for Reefer Telematics, explaining why there is a need for it, the current status and the next steps

Dr. Roland Karnbach, Managing Director, HCS Hamburger Container Service GmbH presented two topics for discussion: Development of a standard CEDEX Code and the development of a standard Container Grading system.

Jinping Hu, Technical Manager, CIMC Containers, reported to delegates on his company’s research work on the Standardisation and Serialisation of Dry Van Containers.

For the final session of the afternoon, participants divided into two Parallel Groups – with one focusing on Container Coatings and the other focusing on IT, Telematics, Track & Trace.
