Suttons conducts confined space emergency drill at its Jinshan depot

As the Suttons Group company strapline “Delivering Life’s Essentials Safely” suggests, it takes safety very seriously and is continuously investing in staff training.

The company’s depot in Jinshan, China has recently conducted a confined space emergency drill, allowing all Suttons staff to understand and practice the process of safely removing an injured or unconscious person from a tank container.

Two drill scenarios were completed to ensure Suttons’ staff were trained the correct procedure on multiple emergency scenarios. Using a dummy as a stand-in for an injured or unconscious employee, Suttons’ staff were trained how to safely raise an injured or unconscious worker wearing a harness out of a tank container and provide emergency resuscitation.

In the event that a worker would become injured or unconscious in the tank without a harness, Suttons’ staff were also trained on the correct way to equip and operate breathing apparatus that would allow them to enter the tank and mount a harness on their injured colleague and recover them safely.

“Thanks to all the hardworking staff in Jinshan for continuously striving to improve our safety procedures!” commented the company.
