Suttons keeps a close watch on safety

Suttons, a global logistics services business focused on the chemical, gas, fuel and foodstuff sectors, places great importance on safety and service.

“Safety and great service is not something that is just limited to our own fleet and drivers,” said the company. “We work closely with our sub-contractors across the world, completing audits and reviewing their performance on a regular basis to ensure standards are up to Suttons’ expectations.”

It says that where required, the company actively supports sub-contractors in developing ways to increase efficiency and overall performance through lending experience and knowledge that has built up over the years. This can even include training for their drivers at Suttons’ closest depot.

“Our partnership with Gebr. Geelhoed B.V, Rotterdam is just one example of the great operators we work with,” said Suttons.

Like Suttons, they are a family run business and have worked together since 2016. “Back then we worked with them on a single truck requirement, but as our business has grown in the region, so has our requirements and we now work regularly on a six truck operation with the company. We have a great relationship with Joop Geelhoed and his family and this close relationship continues to go from strength to strength. We look forward to this continued partnership for many years to come!”

Near Miss reporting

Near Miss reporting is a key aspect of the company’s safety agenda, and is not just something limited to its drivers. Unsafe environments can occur at any point, anywhere, it says.

“Our Near Miss reporting is a way for everyone at Suttons to help create a safety culture; reacting to every incident (or potential hazard) and ensure that these are resolved and announced to others to ensure they do not occur again as best as we can. One way in which we can reward the proactive safety actions of our employees is through our Star Award system. Each month we select a ‘Near Miss of the Month’ safety award for the employee who has raised the best example of safety protection.”
