The Port Authority signs maintenance contract with Shipyard Rotterdam

The Port of Rotterdam Authority has signed a contract with Shipyard Rotterdam BV for the maintenance of the entire fleet of the Port Authority.

This work will continue to take place at the Port Authority’s workshop at Eemhavenweg 14 in Rotterdam, Heijplaat.

It concerns a total of 16 ships, including seven incident response vessels – patrol boats with extinguishing capacity – and the Nieuwe Maze, the Port Authority’s representative catamaran. The contract has a duration of three years and can be extended to a maximum of eight years.

“This is the successful completion of a transition at our site of everything being maintained ourselves with our own technicians and a technical service to integral outsourcing of the work. The transition is in line with the Port Authority’s policy to outsource work that is not one of our core tasks to external specialists,” said Boudewijn Siemons, COO of the Port Authority.

He added: “The harbour master’s division of the Port Authority is working 24/7 to guarantee safety on and around the water. This also means that this service must be able to rely on maintenance 24/7.”
