Transhipment company OVET expands terminal in North Sea Port

The transhipment company OVET is expanding its terminal at Kaloothaven in North Sea Port in Vlissingen by 3 hectares. In doing so, it is meeting the growing need for land to accommodate new cargo flows.

OVET specialises in dry bulk for processing industries in particular. By focusing on bulk goods and break bulk and by offering added value activities such as sieving and blending, the firm has succeeded in growing its cargo flows. Following the expansion, the site in Vlissingen will be 34 hectares in size. OVET also has a terminal in Terneuzen which covers 16 hectares.

Vincent Courtois, Managing Director of OVET, commented: “New cargo flows meant there was an ongoing need for available land at our terminal in 2019. Further expanding the terminal was therefore a logical step. At OVET, around 20% of volumes are no longer related to processing industries. As such, OVET is well placed to adapt to the developments brought about by the energy transition.”

Work on the terminal in Vlissingen will be completed by the end of 2019 at a cost of €1 million.
