Vopak holds ground breaking ceremony for its Botlek terminal expansion

Vopak’s Botlek terminal in Rotterdam recently held a ground breaking ceremony for its expansion project.

The first pile was placed into the ground for the expansion to add 15 new stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 63,000 cbm for styrene and other chemical products. The expansion is expected to be commissioned in Q2 2020.

Styrene is a vital product used in manufacturing of a wide variety of consumer goods serving markets such as packaging, construction (for example isolation) and automotive. The new infrastructure will be fully insolated to allow for product temperature control and is designed to prevent any emissions to the environment. The new storage capacity connects seaborne trade flows via barges, block-trains and trucks to the European hinterland.
