Wilheminahaven Dordrecht Inland Seaport becomes future proof

The Port of Rotterdam Authority is further developing Dordrecht Inland Seaport into a complete, vital and future-proof port. A port that meets the increasing demand for bulk transhipment handling capacity and for waterfront plots. Where there is optimum and efficient use of nautical space, and safety comes first.

In the coming year, the Port Authority will be investing over €3.5 million to optimise the Wilhelminahaven. The current mooring buoys will be replaced with five new certificated mooring buoys with a tensile strength of 200 tonnes. The sea-going shipping and inland shipping jetties & dolphins will receive a significant upgrade and a barge area will be created.

The new buoy configuration will increase ship-ship handling capacity as well as offer larger vessels the opportunity for simultaneous transhipment.

“This development not only enables us to meet the increasing demand for bulk transhipment handling capacity and for waterfront plots, but it also ensures that Wilhelminahaven is future proof. The port will be better organised and safer for all users and optimum use will be made of the nautical space, while also achieving optimum nautical access for Kilkade 7.” As stated by Rik Dalmeijer – Area Manager Dordrecht Inland Seaport.
