Work on quay walls near HES Hartel Tank Terminal almost complete

Work on the quay walls near HES Hartel Tank Terminal B.V. in the Port of Rotterdam has been proceeding for over a year now. In the near future, it will be possible to store a total of 1.3 million cbm of oil products and biofuels at the 27-ha site.

But of course most of these products will eventually need to be transported to the hinterland via inland shipping. The new inland quay (with an approximate length of 1,000m) can accommodate up to five inland vessels simultaneously. And another four inland vessels can moor at the new 300-m jetty that will be constructed in the centre of Hudsonhaven. The new facilities can receive even the largest class of inland vessels.

A large number of prefab elements will be used in the jetty’s construction. The inland quay will be built ‘on dry land’ with the aid of a temporary sheet pile wall all around.
